» Cusco to Amazon Lodge

Leaving Cusco in the morning, we'll board on the Manu Road, passing through dry inner-montane valleys and native villages. We'll make a brief stop at Ninamarca, an archaeological site with pre-Inca tombs.

Continuing our leisurely journey, we'll explore high-elevation mountains and visit the picturesque village of Paucartambo with its arched colonial bridge.

Climbing further, we'll reach the Acjanaco pass, the gateway to Manu National Park. Crossing the pass at 3550 m / 11,647 ft, the environment transitions from dry to wet, offering stunning views of the lowlands.

Descending into the lush cloud forest, we'll have the opportunity to spot the Andean Cock of the Rock (our national bird) and other colorful birds before arriving at our overnight stay, Amazon Lodge at 560 m / 1837 ft. Manu National Park Wildlife

» River Boat Expedition and Oxbow Lake

At dawn, we will wake up to the melodic sounds of Amazonian birds and take a leisurely stroll around our garden. Following breakfast, we will journey to the Atalaya port, where we'll be treated to vibrant birdlife and stunning views. From there, we'll board our motor boat and navigate down the crystal-clear Madre de Dios river.

Continuing by boat, we'll travel for an hour to reach the Machuhuasy Oxbow Lake, where we can admire the lush wetlands and diverse bird species, including hoatzins, horned screamers, hawks, herons, and occasionally monkeys and capybaras.

After exploring the lake, we'll savor a traditional lunch prepared by our skilled chef while floating on a wooden canoe down the Madre de Dios river. In the mid-afternoon, we'll embark on a guided walk through the primary forest, seeking out monkey families, peccaries, and towering kapok trees. Our expert guide will share insights about medicinal plants, reptiles, mammals, and more during the hike.

To conclude the day's adventures, we'll return to our Amazon Lodge.

» Amazon Lodge to Cusco

After breakfast, we will prepare for departure and make a brief visit to a local family to visit a coca plantation, offering further opportunities to see more animals.

As we journey back to Cusco, we may catch glimpses of colorful birds and enjoy the breathtaking views of the lush cloud forest and rushing mountain creeks.

Our anticipated arrival in Cusco is around 5:00 PM.
