The tour starts by car from Cusco to Paucartambo Town, where we will start to cross mountains and forests.

We will visit traditional Andean villages, through mountains, valleys and rivers. Then we will continue our trip to the Amazon jungle. Here we will see the biodiversity of one of the last refuges for many species of animals. You will learn about the different habitats we will pass through.

Our tour starts early in the morning by car, exploring the different areas of the lowlands, along the way we can find a hight variety of birds, mammals and impressive landscapes. After breakfast we will continue our trip to the Port. Here we will visit the town of Atalaya. This is a typical community of brave fishermen and some of them come from native indigenous tribes of the Amazon. They use traditional methods of fishing and hunting.

The Madre de Dios River runs through the Peruvian Amazon jungle and is one of the most important rivers in South America. The river has been called “amaru mayu” in the time of the Incas because it has the shape of the largest snake in the Amazon “anaconda”. In addition, the river is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna, including many species of fish, birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates.

Our journey takes us past many interesting sights such as the Machu Wasi Oxbow lake, a unique habitat where we will find in animals in danger of extinction.

During the exploration walk, we will learn about the most diverse ecosystems on Earth, different types of symbioses, and how nature is still evolving. In fact, there are more species of plants and animals living in the Amazon than anywhere else on earth.

The Amazon rainforest covers almost half of South America and contains one of the greatest biodiversities in the world. We will travel deep into the forest to see wildlife such as jaguars, monkeys, sloths, tapirs, caimans, and other species.

After visiting the Oxbow lake, we continue our trip by motorboat to the see one of the last giant trees of the amazon.

Our next stop is the foothills, a different habitat where we will visit the largest tree in the Amazon rainforest, it is called “ceiba” Ceiba pentandra the locals call it “lupuna” and it is considered the guardian of the Amazon, it can reach up to 200 feet in height, that is why some species of birds choose this tree to nest.

The day ends with one of the most spectacular sunsets in the Amazon

Then we will continue our boat trip along the river, returning to our Lodge and enjoying one of the most spectacular sunsets in the Amazon jungle, red, gold and orange colors shining in the sky.
